Paul Krugman vs Jason Lewis: The War Of Ideologies

Sorry for the lack of posts. I verily just don't care anymore. However, I did want to share this 'brilliant' piece I wrote.

America possesses two primary system of political thought, which for the purpose of this article I will label as Krugman Ideology and Lewis Ideology. Let’s look at my life as an example to illustrate these systems.

I have amassed an incredible amount of debt within the past decade, and yet my income has barely grown. How should I proceed?

Krugman Ideology entails maintaining my current spending patterns while investing in new opportunities, in the hope that my investments eventually peg out and free me from the shackles of debt.

Lewis Ideology option requires I cut spending — remove cigarettes, pizza Fridays and beer from my life, as an example — on the premise that the money saved can be allocated toward my burgeoning debt.

Which option should I choose? As an outside party, I would obviously recommend the second path, as it represents a more responsible conduit towards fiscal sanity. But as the man who lives this life, I cannot imagine giving away the few luxuries I enjoy.

I have no GF, I have no friends, I suffer from impotence as per anti-depressant medications and I have Asperger Syndrome. Cigarettes, pizza and beer frankly provide the few moments of happiness I have in my life.

However, to simply let my debt grow would be foolish and irresponsible, so I must cut spending somewhere. As a result, I rarely shop for clothes, I always check for discounts at the grocery store and I am attempting to reduce my cigarette and beer consumption.

This leads me to an ideology that, for the purposes of this piece, I shall refer to as the Victorious Ideology, or V Ideology. It’s a centrist driven position that combines Krugman’s investment stimulus with Lewis’ spending cuts.

By applying V Ideology to politics, I therefore conclude that the government should continue investing in infrastructure, education and business, while also slashing entitlements and reforming the tax code to make it more progressive (not regressive).

The key to life, my dear friends, lies in moderation—or, simply put, a mixture of extremist dogmas into a single centrist ideology that features the best of both worlds.
